Seven stages, all here in Ladakh — from shaping the empty bottle to filling it with purified water. Follow the trail below, step by step, exactly as it happens at our plant.
Every Khayul bottle starts as a small tube. Our moulding machine heats and expands it into a full-size bottle, right here at the plant, so the bottle is made fresh for the water that goes into it.
The new bottles are labelled with the Khayul name and product details, then set aside to wait for the water while it goes through purification.
The water enters our reverse osmosis (RO) system, where it is pushed under pressure towards a fine membrane that only clean water can pass through. This is where purification starts.
Inside the membrane vessel, the water is split in two. Fresh product water comes out from one side, and rejected water from the other. Only about 30% makes it through as product water. The other 70% is rejected and never goes into a bottle.
Next, the water passes under UV light, which kills bacteria. It then goes through ozone treatment, which keeps the water stable so it stays fresh after it's sealed.
The treated water moves into a storage tank. Before filling, it passes through a micro filter that removes any remaining tiny particles, so it's clear and ready to bottle.
Finally, the purified water is filled into the labelled bottles from step two, sealed, and packed for delivery across Ladakh, made and bottled locally instead of shipped in from outside.
Only about 30% of the water that reaches our membrane becomes Khayul. The rest is rejected, because only the cleanest water makes it into your bottle.
Every bottle you open has gone through these same seven stages, made and bottled in Ladakh, by Ladakh's first packaged drinking water company.
